CRADLEMINT Bio

CRADLEMINT is a  Rock/Pop band based in Melbourne Australia.
The band was formed by songwriter Mark Stuart Crocker in June 1995 and has slowly evolved through 4 CD's into a format which allows them the flexability to play hard rock shows through to quieter acoustic sets.

They released their self titled debut CD 'Cradlemint'in 1996 and supported it with many live performances as well as a furious PR attack on the media. The album received many good reviews and gained record company/industry interest. 'Cradlemint' received airplay on Triple J,3PBS,3RRR,SRAFM and other public/community radio stations throughout Australia.

One of the songs from the debut album 'Something Is Better(ThanNothing)' won 'song of the year' and best 'pop song' at the Australian Songwriters Assciation's National Song Contest final held in 1996.It was selected from over two thousand entries from Australia and overseas and gained a publishing deal from Allans Music Publishing as a result.

In 1998 the band recorded an EP titled 'Cusp' which also received a positive response from the critics and gained more exposure on Trple J and local/interstate radio stations.

Cradlemint also appeared on two compilation CD's that year: 'From the Dole Queue to the Far Queue' and Leviathan records 'Indie', both featuring up and coming unsigned bands.

The band had more success with songs 'Splinter'(Cusp) and 'Toadstool' (Blend), which were both highly commended at the SCALA songwriting awards of 1997 and 1999 respectively.'Toadstool' also finished in the final ten in the rock category of the ASAI awards in 1999.
